A Travellerspoint blog

Finally back to civilization for Xmas

View World Trip 2012 - Actual on dariusz's travel map.

It's been a while since I've had a stable internet connection so I promise to post some more blog entries soon. There is so much to share with everyone and I have tons of videos and pictures I would love everyone to see. The last time I checked I had over 20GB's of media! The good news is we are going to be staying in Antigua Guatemala until December 26th so I expect to catch up on much of the blogging. Antigua is a city which is the last place anyone would describe as typically Guatemalan. It is a resort for the rich Guatemalans living in Guatemala city who want to get away from the pollution, smog and crime and enjoy Latin America with a European flare. It's surrounded by 3 different volcanoes, one of which is active, and its possible to climb all 3 of them. We will probably try the smallest one in the next couple of days (2hrs or so to get up) and see how we do before attempting the larger ones. The nice thing is the small one is the active one!

In other news, I already prepared a whole bunch of pictures for Dan and Milena which will be the basis for a food dedicated blog. I also prepared a set of pictures of accommodations to share with everyone what $20-$30 per night buys you in these parts. Kristine on the other hand took a bunch of pictures for Laura to show what she packed for an 8 month trip.

I also updated the locations and dates on the map above to reflect the actual trip up to now and our next couple of destinations.

So stay tuned for more stories, pictures and videos!
